In 1914, a famous German art collector, Willianm Wood rented an apartment at town Senlis, about 40 kilometers away from Paris, in order to write quietly instead of the hectic and hustle life in Paris temporarily. One day, the landlord invited him to her house. He saw a picture in the living room. He was very surprised to find the painting was painted by Séraphine, a bloated maid as a joke for other people, more than 40 years old. He appreciated her paintings so that he hoped for her to open a show. Then, she worked extremely hard in order for the number of artworks to meet as soon as possible to open an exhibition. He was forced to flee France because of the First World War. However, no matter how many difficulties during the war, she never put down the brush for the commitment to him. In 1927, they reunited in France. But then she was insane and died at a mental hospital in 1942.
