In 2013 Chinese Art Auction Turnover of Nearly 55 Billions Paintings over Five Percent

China Auction Industry Association with USA Artnet jointly released 2013 China Art World Auction Statistics Annual Report in beijing. The report shows, last year China art auction market total turnover all over the world amounted to 54.88 billion Yuan, 28.8% growth over the previous year. China painting still accounted for the largest share, turnover of 30.71billion yuan.

The total number of enterprises engaged in the Chinese cultural relics ang art auction world also is up to 662 with a synchronous growth of 12.75%. The main market for Chinese relics art auction is still China, accounting for 72.5%. Hongkong, Japan and other Asian regions accounted for 20.1%. Europe, North America and other parts of the world market share is less than 10% of the total.

In 2013, the total turnover growth overseas China art auction is higher 17.6 percentage points than the mainland market. The overseas auction transactions fold has bottomed out. In China mainland, Chinese painting and calligraphy occupies first place in all categories, and in the overseas corundum porcelain miscellaneous dominate the market.

The annual reports that Chinese art auction gradually reduces since 2012 after experiencing the phenomenal growth from 2009 to 2011. In 2013, it showed signs of recovery the auction structure adjustment, buyers more cautious, price more reasonable. These are signs of Chinese art market entering a more mature stage.
